Innovation that Matters: SXSW Selects BIOTRONIK MRI AutoDetect as Innovation Awards Finalist
Unique MRI AutoDetect Technology Simplifies Care Cycle for Patients with Cardiac Devices

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., March 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- BIOTRONIK today announced the company's MRI AutoDetect technology has been named a finalist in the 2018 South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conference & Festival Interactive Innovation Awards, highlighting BIOTRONIK's dedication to innovation that matters for patients, physicians and healthcare administrators across disciplines.

MRI AutoDetect is available in the US with BIOTRONIK's Edora, Intica and Ilivia device lines, which include pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices for heart failure.

MRI AutoDetect was developed by BIOTRONIK engineers to make it easier for device patients to safely undergo MRI scans by reducing programming requirements for clinicians and minimizing administrative scheduling burdens. Once activated by a physician, MRI AutoDetect allows patients unprecedented flexibility to undergo, reschedule or repeat MRI scans as needed during a set timeframe. The technology automatically recognizes when the patient enters an MRI environment and converts their cardiac device to MRI mode, automatically returning the device to its therapeutic programming once the scan is complete. MRI AutoDetect is the latest example of technology that improves patient safety and satisfaction while increasing workflow efficiency that economically benefits healthcare systems.

"BIOTRONIK remains dedicated to pursuing innovations that redefine healthcare as we celebrate this distinct recognition from SXSW. We are honored to be included on this global stage with developments that are pushing boundaries and changing the world," said Marlou Janssen, President of BIOTRONIK, Inc. "MRI AutoDetect is an impactful technology that disrupts the outdated, often siloed approach to treatment and embraces today's interdisciplinary patient care cycle. It also helps providers meet the rigorous demands of our current healthcare economy by improving workflow, automating effectively and providing superior user experience without incurring additional costs. BIOTRONIK will continue to provide holistic solutions like MRI AutoDetect for many years to come."
