Washington, DC Brings the Capital of Inclusive Innovation to South by Southwest
Annual WeDC House Will Feature Expanded Programming, Networking, Live Music and More

WASHINGTON, March 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Washington, DC continues its commitment to showcasing the city as the "Capital of Inclusive Innovation" at South by Southwest® (SXSW®) with its seventh annual WeDC House from March 9-11 at Banger's, 79 Rainey Street in Austin, Texas. This year, the Washington DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP), in partnership with the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), will re-energize their presence to celebrate the District's diverse economy across technology, innovation, social impact, and creativity, reflecting DC's vibrant communities and businesses.

Over three days, WeDC House partners are presenting a notable lineup of business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs in expanded DC-centric programming.

"The WeDC House is a testament to the Bowser Administration's commitment to supporting businesses that want to start, grow or expand their footprint in the Capital of Inclusive Innovation. We welcome all to join us," said Brian Kenner, Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. "As one of the top cities in the country for innovation, technology and start-up expansion, the District is a pioneer in fostering the growth of world-class talent and companies; there is no better time or place to hear about DC's development across all sectors."

The WeDC House will also feature the WeDC Ambassadors, carefully selected DC business and creative leaders serving as unofficial representatives of the District to further educate festival attendees firsthand on the District's inclusive economy, promote DC's startup community, and foster new partnerships among the local and national business communities.

"Over the course of seven years, the WeDC House has evolved to represent all the city has to offer in technology, innovation, and culture at the intersection of the activities taking place in and around SXSW," said Keith J. Sellars, President & CEO, WDCEP. "Through our partnered efforts to promote Washington, DC as the Capital of Inclusive Innovation, we have the pleasure of educating a global community about what makes DC so distinct, from conversations, to networking, to live music."

The WeDC House will bring SXSW the best of what DC has to offer, with an increased focus on industries such as mobility, smart city technology, social entrepreneurship, the arts, culture and more. The programming will exemplify topics that represent the District's business community with all sessions having a focus on inclusion and innovation. Daytime programming has an ASL interpreter.
