SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Nov. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Trusona, the leader in #NoPasswords identity authentication, today announced its panel session "Tech Innovation to Fight Child Exploitation" has been selected for the Social Impact track at South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals (March 9-18, 2018). This session is a watershed moment in Trusona's "#NoPasswords4Good" initiative.
Trusona founder and CEO, Ori Eisen will be joined by key social impact and technology leaders from Microsoft, Thorn and Fortalice in a unified effort to make SXSW 2018 a pivotal moment in the fight against child exploitation. The session will take place at the Westin Austin Downtown in the Continental Ballroom from 3:30-4:30pm CT. The panelists will discuss how technology is being used to fight child exploitation and ways the public and organizations can help advance this goal.
The "Tech Innovation to Fight Child Exploitation" panel will feature:
As part of Trusona's '"#NoPasswords4Good" initiative, the panel discussion will elevate a discussion around the impact technology can have on fighting child exploitation. The session will cover how technology enables child exploitation by fostering criminal anonymity, making it easier to reach children, connecting the criminals involved, and the ability to easily execute payments. Yet more importantly, topics examined will include how technology can do more to fight this awful crime. The leaders will use the opportunity to align organizations and individuals with their mission as they explore what roles concerned citizens and organizations can take to help prevent child exploitation. The goal is to educate and encourage long-term efforts to ensure technology is understood, developed and readily-available to fight back.
"The same technologies criminals manipulate to reap ill-gotten gains and bring harm to children around the globe can actually be developed into the most powerful weapon for stopping them," said Ori Eisen, CEO Trusona. "Through our #NoPasswords4Good initiative and the panel at SXSW we are bringing together visionaries who can promote a collective understanding of the abuse of technologies and make sure technology is in turn used to drive awareness, educate, and most of all protect children."
Password-based authentication creates fertile ground for the proliferation of cybercrime as an archaic facade for accurately determining the online identity. Compromised passwords enable more than 80 percent of worldwide breaches, which in turn fuel cybercrimes and fund a variety of nefarious acts, including child exploitation. To battle this scourge, Trusona developed the world's only insured authentication solution which eliminates the need for passwords and ensures people are who they say they are and no one else can.
Through "#NoPasswords4Good" Trusona engages in a multitude of efforts to educate and support the development and adoption of technology to curb cybercrime. Participating in the Social Impact track at SXSW is a major milestone for Trusona's "#NoPasswords4Good" initiative since it is an opportunity to reach a large influential and active cross-section of society. More than 70,000 people attend SXSW each March.
Eisen has personally and professionally dedicated his life to fighting cybercrime and preventing child exploitation online. Additional efforts by Eisen include volunteer leadership and support to NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) and Thorn, the digital defenders of children international anti-human trafficking organization that works to address the sexual exploitation of children.
